They eat bugs, fish, antelope, monkeys, rodents, deer…in fact, pretty much any prey that is available! Leopards are skilled climbers , and like to rest in the branches of trees during the day. Nocturnal animals, leopards are active at night when they venture out in search for food. They mostly spend their days resting, camouflaged in the trees or hiding in caves.
When it comes to hunting for food, these big cats know their stuff! When a leopard spots a potential meal, it approaches with legs bent and head low, so as not to be seen. The leopard dashes forward and takes down its victim with a bite to the throat or neck. Female leopards give birth any time of the year — when they do, they usually give birth to two or three cubs.
Mothers stay with their cubs until they are about two years old, when they are old enough to hunt and take care of themselves. Leopards communicate with each other through distinctive calls. They also growl when angry and, like domestic cats, purr when happy and relaxed.

I'm not sure about this book, and fear it is degrading toward Magic Treehouse quality despite having a fixed cap on the number of books in the series. I am also pretty sure it is too soft for there to be solid-gold statues but I have not researched the topic.

I enjoyed them a lot. I would recommend the series to any early reader. The same 3 friend last are in each book but other characters and places reoccur. Either way a fun read for the whole family. This was published in , so I turned the first page, saw the World Trade Center on the map of New York, and winced. Anyway, I read this in less than 40 minutes, and I definitely think my 5-year-old cousin should read it. I remember this as a favorite in the series because I found the story very clever--or perhaps I liked it so much because of my affection for art museums.
